ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
A town that has everything and appreciates it
Collingwood is the largest and most established town in the Southern Georgian Bay region. Once a shipbuilding powerhouse in the 19th and early 20th century, a heritage still visible in its remarkable beaux-arts Federal Building and brick downtown, it has evolved into one of Ontario’s most desirable four-season destinations.
The Historic Downtown is genuinely walkable, with independent boutiques, cafés, art galleries, and specialty food shops that would hold their own in any city. Georgian Bay is right there: Sunset Point Park and its waterfront trail offer swimming, cycling, and some of the most dramatic sunsets in the province.
Blue Mountain Resort is a 10-minute drive. The Georgian Trail, a 32-kilometre rail trail running all the way to Meaford, starts in town. And yet, with many grocery stores, a regional hospital, and excellent schools, Collingwood functions as a complete community, not just a weekend retreat.
The real estate market reflects that completeness. You can find a wartime-era starter home, a new-build subdivision house, a century home on a tree-lined street, a waterfront condo at Lighthouse Point, or a custom estate, all within the same town.
