The Town of Wasaga Beach has a land size of 58.64 km2 with a population estimate of 24,000+ people. The town has a rich history which dates back to the 1600s where its first inhabitants, the Huron people had stayed there after they were dispersed by the French allied Algonquin people. It has a rich history being a linchpin in the winning of the war of 1812, with artifacts at the Nancy Island Museum. It also hit the headlines in 1934 when the Long Wasaga’s beach was used as the runway for a plane flying all the way from Canada mainland, across the mighty Atlantic Ocean to England. It also held the title of fastest growing town in Canada in the early 2000s.
